LorenzoSperlonga was born in 1969 in Rome, Italy. At the age of 16, he beganhis career as an illustrator and a graphic designer for advertisingagencies and small publishers. In those first few years, he soonrealized that painting was his true calling, and little by little hefocused his artistic interests entirely towards sci-fi, fantasy anderotica.
The year 1995 marked the beginning of his career as apin-up artist: he painted his first cover for SKORPIO - the biggestcomics magazine in Italy: since then, many of his magazine covers stillappear every year on Italian newsstands. The public learned very quicklyto recognize his style, especially after his paintings were featured inPlayboy and Penthouse, in their respective Italian editions. As hiscovers started to appear in Australia, South America and Eastern Europe,the American market initially opened its doors to Lorenzo in 1998. Thatwas the year that prompted Lorenzo to move to Los Angeles, where hebegan his collaboration with Larry Flynt Publications, as well as manyother publishers such as Avalanche, Aeg, Sizzle, Fort Ross.

However,in Lorenzos words, the real big one happened in 2000 when he became acover artist for historical fantasy comics magazine Heavy Metal. Sincethen, dozens among covers, posters and calendars followed that veryspecial piece.

Tamara Bane Gallery and Lorenzo started to worktogether in May 2002, just a couple of months preceding the world-widerelease of his first book by MG Publishing: The Art of LorenzoSperlonga?. On the wings of that international success, MG sooncontacted him again to commission the double cover of the premiere issueof Artcore, the first periodical entirely dedicated to pin-up art. Inthe past three years, Lorenzo Sperlonga took part to exhibitions atTamara Bane Gallery in Los Angeles and Echo Gallery in Chicago. In 2004,RCI International started a new line of hand-painted sculpturesinspired by his masterpieces.
