ThisCD is an excellent compilation of Marcus Millers solo work. A musicalgenius, he has excelled in R&B, jazz, and funk with various artistssuch as David Sanborn, Luther Vandross, Miles Davis, etc. His talents asa multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer shines brightly on this CD.This CD features songs from The Sun Dont Lie, Tales and work fromhis other solo albums Suddenly and Marcus Miller. It also sums uphis own stellar solo work and with the Jamaica Boys, a R&B/funkgroup that features Lenny White, Mark Stevens, Dinky Bingham, andBernard Wright. The funk is deep on Serious, Home, and I Want To BeThere. The latter builds up on the funk along with an Africanpercussion sequence that is amazing. Ethiopia is a similar track.

Theballads are plentiful with tracks such as Nadine, Forevermore, andCould It Be You. There is a live song, Run For Cover which lets theband stretch out and features a slammin bass solo. This song is thehighlight of many on the CD. He also does an updated version of JustWhat I Needed which is a treat to listen. If you are not familiar withMarcus Millers solo work, then I highly recommended this CD as a goodstart or just to add to your collection (as a fan), you will not bedisappointed. ~ Amazon.com
